2015 Lexus RX vs Acura MDX vs Audi Q5 vs BMW X3

At Pohanka Lexus near Washington DC, we know that finding the right luxury sport utility vehicle can be quite the undertaking. Keeping that in mind, we have compiled a competitor comparison to show you how the 2015 Lexus RX stacks up against the 2015 Acura MDX, 2015 Audio Q5, and the BMW X3.

Under the hood, the 2015 Lexus RX features a 3.5L V6 engine gives the driver 270 horsepower and makes 90% of it's torque available at a lower RPM, giving you great power during all engine speeds with a six-speed transmission and great fuel efficiency. Featuring only inline four-cylinder engines, the Lexus RX beats the 220 horsepower of the Audi Q5 and the 240 horsepower of the BMW X3. The Lexus RX also comes with front-wheel drive, which is known for better handling in snow and icy conditions, and the option of choosing an all-wheel drivetrain. The Audio Q5 only comes in all-wheel drive and the BMW X3 comes standard with rear-wheel drive.

If you're looking for a break at the gas pump, the 2015 Lexus RX takes regular unleaded gasoline, while the MDX, Q5, and X3 all require premium unleaded gasoline to run. Plus, the RX will get you further down the road because it holds more gas than the X3.

The sound system of the Lexus RX also gives you optional HD Radio™1, which broadcasts CD quality sounds through the FM band and clear reception for AM stations. If you're looking for that kind of feature on the Acura MDX, you'll have to upgrade to another style. If you want to upgrade your stereo to a premium sound system, like the Lexus 12-speaker Premium Sound System, you have that option on the Lexus RX, but not on the Acura, Audio, or BMW sport utility vehicles.

A keyless ignition, wherein you simply press the brake pedal and then push the engine start/stop button is standard on both the Lexus RX and Acura MDX, but is only available as an option on the BMW X3 and is not available on the Audio Q5.

As it should be, all models being compared feature an anti-theft system, side curtain airbags, and traction and stability control, but the optional Lexus Enform®2 Safety Connect system offers roadside assistance, stolen vehicle assistance, and can notify emergency services if the airbags deploy.

For all of these reasons, plus lower the sticker price, the choice is clear. Visit the new-vehicle showroom at Pohanka Lexus to learn more about the all-new 2015 Lexus RX near Washington DC.
