2016 Lexus IS vs. Audi A4 in Virginia | VA

Which Luxury Sedan is Right for You?

Finding the right luxury sedan can be a stressful situation, as there are so many makes and models to choose from. So, when the time comes to purchase a new vehicle, how do you narrow down your choices? You should first decide which features you want most in a potential new luxury sedan. The 2016 Lexus IS in Virginia offers maximum power, in addition to safety, convenience, and technology features that its competitors do not have. We at Pohanka Lexus of Chantilly have compared the 2016 Lexus IS to the 2016 Audi A4 to help make your decision a little easier.

If you’re looking to get the most out of your V6 engine, the 2016 Lexus IS has more horsepower and torque than the 2016 Audi A4. In the IS, you’ll feel the power under your gas pedal with 306 horsepower and 277 lbs.-ft. of torque1. This just doesn’t compare to the 220 horsepower and 258 lbs.-ft. of torque that you’ll get driving the A4.

In addition to more power, you’ll also feel safer driving the 2016 Lexus IS in Virginia because it has a two safety features not offered in the 2016 Audi A4, and one that is standard that is only optional in the A4. The Audi A4 doesn’t offer a Telematics System at all, while the Lexus IS has Lexus Enform Safety Connect2. This provides peace of mind, as you know assistance3 is there to help you when you need it most. If you’re involved in a collision, have your IS stolen, or are involved in another sort of emergency, help can be sent directly to your GPS location. This standard feature in all IS trims is complimentary for the first year. While both luxury sedans have a variety of airbags, the Lexus IS also features a front knee airbag4 for optimal safety, a feature the A4 doesn’t offer. Lastly, a backup camera5 with dynamic gridlines is a standard feature in the 2016 IS, while it is only optional in the 2016 A4.

The all-new Lexus IS also has a variety of standard features that are only optional in the Audi A4. To remain comfortable no matter the weather, the heated and ventilated front seats make drives to the Virginia Aquarium more comfortable than ever before. The inside of the 2016 IS also boasts an electrochromic rearview mirror, which dims automatically depending on your surroundings. Also standard are the SmartAccess Key system6 with a push start/stop button7 and voice-activated controls via Bluetooth®8. Another major difference between these two luxury sedans is that the IS comes standard with subscription-free traffic and weather service9 using HD RadioTM. This provides you with the latest information on traffic, and changing weather conditions you can expect on your route, all on the main LCD display. These features all come standard in the 2016 Lexus IS, while they are only optional in the 2016 Audi A4.

Picking the right luxury sedan doesn’t need to be a tough decision. When you compare power, safety, and standard features, the choice is clear. Contact Information

1 Ratings achieved using the required premium unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 91 or higher. If premium fuel is not used, performance will decrease.

2 Contact with the response center may not be available in all areas. Service Agreements required. A variety of subscription terms available; charges will vary. See lexus.com for details.

3 Roadside Assistance coverage is 24/7 for 3 years or 100,000 total vehicle miles, whichever comes first. Available in the continental U.S. & Canada. See Lexus dealer for details.

4 All the airbag (AB) systems are Supplemental Restraint Systems. All ABs (if installed) are designed to inflate only under certain conditions and in certain types of severe collisions: frontal and knee ABs typically inflate in frontal collisions; side and side curtain ABs in side collisions; Roll-Sensing Curtain ABs at a severe tilt degree, roll or lateral G-force. In all other accidents, the ABs will not inflate. To decrease the risk of injury from an inflating AB, always wear seatbelts, sit upright in the middle of the seat as far back as possible and do not lean against the door. Do not put objects in front of an AB or around the seatback. Do not use a rearward-facing child seat in any front passenger seat. The force of an inflating AB may cause serious injury or death. See Owner's Manual for further information/warnings.

5 The backup camera does not provide a comprehensive view of the rear area of the vehicle. You should also look around outside your vehicle and use your mirrors to confirm rearward clearance. Cold weather may limit effectiveness and view may become cloudy.

6 The SmartAccess system may interfere with some pacemakers or cardiac defibrillators. If you have one of these medical devices, please talk to your doctor to see if you should deactivate this system.

7 The engine immobilizer is a state-of-the-art anti-theft system. When you insert your key into the ignition switch or bring a SmartAccess fob into the vehicle, the key transmits an electronic code to the vehicle. The engine will only start if the code in the transponder chip inside the key/fob matches the code in the vehicle’s immobilizer. Because the transponder chip is embedded in the key/fob, it can be costly to replace. If you lose a key or fob, your Lexus dealer can help. Alternatively, you can find a qualified independent locksmith to perform high-security key services by consulting your local Yellow Pages or by contacting www.aloa.org.

8 Concentrating on the road should always be your first priority while driving. Do not use the hands-free phone system if it will distract you.
