Just because you’re leaning towards a midsize sedan rather than an SUV doesn’t mean you want a weak engine idling under the hood, and it doesn’t mean you want to feel cramped, either. Distinguishing a good sedan from a great one can be a hassle, though, so we at Pohanka Lexus of Chantilly have compiled this comparison of the 2017 Lexus ES 350 against the 2017 Acura TLX to see which one of these competitive options truly comes out on top! Don’t hesitate to contact us at 703-592-4979 to speak with a member of our knowledgeable staff if you have any questions at all.
The Lexus ES 350 starts out with its best set of rubbers forward since it’s equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 powerhouse to motivate on morning commutes. The 268 horsepower adds excitement to every drive, dulling the monotony of errands, especially when you can make the run from 0-60 MPH in a scant 7.1 seconds1! The Acura TLX, on the other hand, comes standard with a 2.5-liter I-4 engine that only produces a measly 206 horsepower and 182 lb.-ft. of torque. It takes a slow 7.4 seconds to make the leap from 0-60 MPH2, and, if you want a more vivacious option, you’ll have to dish out extra cash to upgrade to the V6 iteration.
You’ll notice a big difference in cabin quality when you take a seat inside the ES 350 and TLX. While the ES 350 boasts perforated NuLuxe interior that offers the same supple feel of leather without the use of animal hide, you’ll find coarser leatherette-trimmed interior inside of the TLX. The ES 350 also is host to an 8-speaker Premium Sound System, while the TLX taps out at seven standard speakers. The ES 350 also lends a hand when wanderlust strikes with its Scout® GPS Link3 and subscription-free Traffic and Weather updates4 via HD RadioTM4, neither of which you’ll find on the competitor’s standard trim!
You’ll even notice small ways that the ES 350 trumps its competitor – like with the smog sensor and automatic recirculation mode on its dual-zone climate control, which the TLX can’t claim. Top it off with the fact that the ES 350 comes standard with rain-sensing windshield wipers for optimal visibility, while the TLX makes you upgrade to a higher trim for this very same feature, and we’d say it’s easy to decide which sedan truly stands out. It’s not enough just to have standard amenities, though – we want to be able to upgrade! While both of these competitive sedans offer power moonroofs standard, only the ES 350 gives you the option to expand your view above with its panorama moonroof. It’s just one more reason to choose the ES 350!
