When it comes to choosing the perfect SUV, it can take some deep scrutiny to determine which model is the right one for you and your crew. At Pohanka Lexus of Chantilly, we’re always happy to help you make that decision, so we’ve put two competitive models head-to-head to assist! Today, we’ll be analyzing the differences between the 2017 Lexus RX 350 vs the 2017 Buick Envision to see which one offers more power and standard amenities. If you have any questions while reading through, don’t hesitate to contact a knowledgeable member of our staff via text message, Live Chat function, or over the phone at 703-592-4979!
One of the primary determiners of any vehicle decision is what’s under the hood. The RX 350 is equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that provides ample strength for every highway merging. Pumping out 295 horsepower, it’s available with either FWD or AWD but is married to an 8-speed electronically-controlled automatic transmission. Capable of burning rubber from 0-60 MPH in as little as 7.7 seconds1, you’ll never feel lag time between depressing the accelerator and speeding up. It even achieves a commendable 19/27/23 MPG city/hwy/combined2 fuel rating!
The Buick Envision can’t lay claim to the same level of power. The standard 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine underneath the hood of the Envision struggles to produce a scant 197 horsepower and 192 lb.-ft. of torque. The upgraded option, a 2.0-liter turbo DOHC 4-cylinder SIDI engine, clocks in at 252 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque that still can’t match the RX 350’s. It also only makes use of a 6-speed automatic transmission, which means that there are larger gaps between gear shifts, and that could mean a rougher ride. Finally, for all of that lack in power, you’d think that the Envision would boast phenomenal efficiency – it barely exceeds the RX 350’s numbers. Only achieving 21/28 MPG city/hwy3, there’s just not much give-and-take in regards to power and efficiency!
Luxury SUVs aren’t just about exterior style or what’s rumbling underneath the hood. The insides count, too, so let’s take a seat inside of the cabin. The RX 350 is comprehensively equipped, starting every experience in this SUV off with easy ingress thanks to the Smart Access4 system. Sink into the perforated NuLuxe interior and press the push-button Start/Stop button to hit the road without delay. The standard 9-speaker Lexus Premium Sound System is perfect for streaming your favorite playlists or making phone calls via Bluetooth®5 safely. Speaking of safety, the RX 350 is equipped, standard, with the Lexus Safety System+6, which will add peace of mind to every adventure. This bundle even includes the Pre-Collision System7 with Pedestrian Detection8 for ultimate peace of mind. The Envision, on the other hand, can only boast offering a keyless access system. Other than that, you’ll have to settle for six speakers and cough up more money to acquire advanced driver-assist features that the RX 350 provides standard.
At Pohanka Lexus of Chantilly, we think it’s pretty easy to see which luxury SUV takes the gold medal, but it’s the test drive that’s always the clincher. We hope that this comparison between the 2017 Lexus RX 350 vs the 2017 Buick Envision near Falls Church, VA, has assisted in your car-buying decision!
