2021 Lexus NX 300 vs 2020 Acura RDX near Washington, DC

2021 Lexus NX 300 shown above with optional equipment.
In the world of luxury compact SUVs, the options are seemingly limitless. The variety can certainly make your decision a head-scratcher, which is why we at Pohanka Lexus are here to introduce you to the 2021 Lexus NX 300. To give you a better understanding of how it fairs when put against other SUVs in its segment, we have created a comprehensive comparison against the 2020 Acura RDX. When you are ready to test drive the Lexus, head to our location!
Performance
Let’s get the ball rolling by addressing the mechanics revving beneath the sheet metal of the NX 300. It comes standard with a 2.0L Turbo 4-cylinder engine idling at your discretion that provides the utmost in terms of efficiency, as evidenced by the 25 MPG combined1 fuel economy rating with FWD equipped. On the other hand, the RDX doesn’t quite live up to expectations, as its standard 2.0L Turbo 4-cylinder system can only muster up a 24 MPG combined2 rating with the same drivetrain. Fortunately, the NX 300 allows you to gain excellent handling while barreling down the beaten path with an available AWD system. All of this capability won’t impact you at the pump, because you’ll have 22/28/24 MPG city/hwy/combined1 to revel in. The same can’t be said for the RDX, as its optional AWD system knocks its fuel rating down to 21/27/23 MPG city/hwy/combined2.
Interior
If you have your mind set on a luxury driving option, then you’ll require a cabin that provides boastworthy amenities. The 2021 NX 300 leaves nothing to chance, thanks to the available 10.3-inch touchscreen located in the center stack. Here, you can access all of your favorite applications with absolute ease with help from the standard Remote Touchpad3 that offers the same capability as your laptop at home. If you choose the 2020 RDX, you’ll have to settle for a 10.2-inch display that doesn’t offer quite as much clarity. Plus, you won’t have a touchpad, so you’ll have to reach out to access all of your features. If you prefer booming acoustics, then you’ll appreciate the available 10-speaker sound system on the base trim of the NX 300. The Acura vehicle only offers nine speakers on its lowest edition, and you’ll have to pay toward a trim upgrade to receive a higher count.
Safety
When it comes to finding an SUV that fulfills your family’s needs, driver-assist features are a must. The engineers at Lexus took that into account while designing the NX 300 with systems like standard Road Sign Assist4. This handy tool uses intuitive cameras to recognize speed limits and other road postings, then displays them on your instrument cluster for effortless viewing. As if that wasn’t already enough, Intuitive Parking Assist5 comes as an available upgrade and will help you complete hands-free parallel maneuvers on West Street! You won’t find any of these features on the 2020 RDX, which might make you feel left out in terms of automotive advancements. Finally, the 2021 NX 300 boasts a standard Blind Spot Monitor6 with Rear Cross Traffic Alert7, which is something you’ll have to upgrade to experience in the Acura.

1. EPA-estimated MPG. Use for comparison purposes only. Your mileage will vary for many reasons, including your vehicle's condition and how/where you drive. See www.fueleconomy.gov.
2. Based on 2019 EPA mileage ratings. Use for comparison purposes only. Your actual mileage will vary, depending on how you drive and maintain your vehicle, driving conditions, battery pack age/condition (hybrid only) and other factors.
3. Be sure to obey traffic regulations and maintain awareness of road and traffic conditions at all times.
4. Do not rely exclusively on Road Sign Assist (RSA). RSA is a driver support system that utilizes the vehicle’s forward-facing camera and Navigation System (when data is available) to recognize certain road signs and provide information to the driver via the multi-information display and/or Head-Up Display. Effectiveness is dependent on road, weather, vehicle and sign conditions. Use common sense when using RSA and do not drive distracted. See Owner's Manual for additional limitations and details.
5. Intuitive Parking Assist (IPA) is designed to assist drivers in avoiding potential collisions at speeds of 9 mph or less. Certain vehicle and environmental factors, including an object’s speed, shape, size and composition, may affect the system’s effectiveness. Always look around outside the vehicle and use mirrors to confirm clearance. See Owner's Manual for additional limitations and details.
6. Do not rely exclusively on the Blind Spot Monitor. Always look over your shoulder and use your turn signal. There are limitations to the function, detection and range of the monitor. See Owner's Manual for additional limitations and details.
7. Do not rely exclusively on the Rear Cross-Traffic Alert system. Always look over your shoulder and use your mirrors to confirm rear clearance. There are limitations to the function, detection and range of the system. See Owner's Manual for additional limitations and details.
