Standard under the hood of the 2022 Lexus GX 460 is a 4.6L V8 engine that thunders to the tune of 301 horsepower1 and 329 lb.-ft. of torque1. Meanwhile, drivers of the 2022 Audi Q7 will have to upgrade to a higher trim level to keep up since its standard 2.0L 4-cylinder engine can only produce 248 horsepower and 273 lb.-ft. of torque. The Lexus model comes standard with a full-time 4WD system and available Crawl Control2 makes traversing challenging terrain a breeze. The Audi does come standard with quattro® AWD, you won’t find anything comparable to Crawl Control. To seal the deal, the GX 460 is ready to flex right out of the gate, boasting an impressive 6,500-lb. towing capacity3 across all trim levels. The base Q7’s meager 4,400-lb. towing capacity4 will likely have you looking for a costly trim upgrade.               

Technology

Those on board the Lexus SUV will find no shortage of advanced features to enjoy. Crowning the center stack is a standard 10.3-inch high-resolution touchscreen. While the Audi may attempt to distract with two vertically-oriented displays, the primary panel is only 10.1 inches, while the secondary unit is relegated to climate controls. Both of these vehicles offer control over certain aspects via an associated smartphone app, but it's worth pointing out that Lexus Enform Remote5 access is standard and included for the first three years of ownership. Alternatively, Audi drivers will only be able to enjoy Audi connect®6 services for six months after their initial purchase before needing to pay up. In the unlikely event that you still need convincing, consider that the GX 460 features an available Panoramic View Monitor7 with Multi-Terrain Monitor8 for more awareness when traveling off-road. You won’t get this benefit driving the Q7.
