A New Focus on EV Models
Lexus recently announced that they have put an added emphasis on alternative fuel vehicles and aim to have an electric option for all of their models by 2025. This would include electric versions of popular models such as the RX 350 and the ES 350. According to a press release, they are also working to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. We expect to see much more information as we get closer to those dates but Lexus has hinted at brand new vehicles that are currently in the concept phase.
RX 450e
The RZ 450e is set to be the first-ever fully-electric Lexus model. At this time we do not have a release date but prototype photos show a compact crossover that shares exterior features with the RX 350 and NX 300. This will likely be a five-passenger model to rival the current luxury electric crossovers like the Tesla Model Y.
LF-30 Electrified
For fans of sci-fi films and futuristic design, the LF-30 Electrified is for you. One look at the concept images prove that this is unlike any other Lexus vehicle. The cabin is almost directly in the center of the vehicle, giving it a decidedly sporty look and the seamless glass roof that flows into the windshield adds to the mood. Deeply bolstered front and rear seats could hint powerful performance from the electric system. Lexus has revealed that this vehicle is designed to have autonomous features such as self-parking and front door pickup.
LF-Z Electrified
Last, but not least is the LF-Z Electrified. We have the most details about this concept so far, including performance elements such as Lexusā new Pure EV platform that includes Direct4 technology and a new Steer-by-Wire system. Like the RZ 450e this will be a crossover EV but initial interior images show seating for four passengers with rear bucket seats. It is also set to have LED interior ambient lighting thatās embedded throughout the cabin and an electrochromic roof that can be either transparent or opaque.
