The 2018 Lexus GX is a premium SUV that starts at more than $51,000. Carrying a starting price of over $35,000, the Lexus NX is a crossover SUV that also boasts high-end amenities. Both models offer the Lexus Enform infotainment system that's packed with applications. Some of the GX's top safety features include the Pre-Collision Assist and Lane Departure Alert.
Performance
The 2018 Lexus GX is driven by a 4.6 L V8 engine that generates 301 horsepower. This eight-cylinder engine only needs to reach 3,500 RPM to deliver just under 330 lb-ft of peak torque. A towing capacity of 6,500 pounds makes the GX an excellent vehicle for recreational trips or other demanding tasks. In the Lexus NX, a turbocharged 2.0 L engine whips out a maximum of 235 hp. This four-cylinder engine cranks out 258 lb-ft of torque at above 1,650 RPM. Standard in the NX 300h edition, a naturally aspirated 2.5 L engine delivers 194 hp. When it comes to handling, both Lexus cars have the Electronically Controlled Transmission with intelligence (ECT-i) system, which includes a gearbox with six distinct ratios. In the GX model, the ECT-i features the Sequential Shift setting that's tuned for an instant response. Additionally, this trim rolls on a 4WD system that's linked to a center differential by Torsen.
Safety
If the 2018 Lexus GX's Pre-Collision System determines the slightest potential of a forward crash, the brakes will be automatically engaged. The all-new Driver Attention Monitor will make sure that your eyes are focused on the road ahead. By scanning road markings, the Lane Departure Alert identifies any unintentional lane drifting. This driving aide is only active when the GX moves faster than 32 MPH. Other accident-prevention installations in this Lexus model include the Blind Spot Monitor and Cross-Traffic Alert. These active safety features are included in some of the optional packages that are available in the NX trim. Both vehicles offer the Intuitive Parking Assist, which emits loud beeps when a stationary obstacle is detected. In the passive safety department, the GX has 10 airbags, and the NX comes with eight air bags. Technology
The infotainment systems in the 2018 GX and NX are powered by the Lexus Enform platform. Colored maps with 3-D maps are easily accessible in the navigation system of this signature multimedia hub. In the NX trim, you may use a touchpad to conveniently browse the digital menus. This edition also has a 10.3-inch display with a split-screen interface. If you're looking to access other apps on the go, just turn on the Enform App Suite. Facebook, Yelp and Destination Search are included in the virtual portal. You can listen to music on Pandora, iHeartRadio, SiriusXM or other audio sources. The GX offers a 17-speaker sound system by Mark Levinson, and the NX has a 10-speaker audio system by Lexus.
